Hakan Sukur - who has endured a miserable tournament - scored the fastest ever goal in a World Cup match to set the tone for an end-to-end encounter.
And his strike partner Ilhan Mansiz scored twice to underline his case for a regular starting berth when the Euro 2004 qualifiers begin. South Korea, who have contributed so much to the success of the World Cup, again attacked with verve and determination.
And Lee Eul-Yong scored a spectacular free-kick to pull level early in the game.

The decision proved costly, with his team's previously excellent defence playing like virtual strangers throughout the opening half.
The co-hosts trailed 3-1 at the break and did not score again until Song Chong-Gug netted in the final minute of the match.
The game had got off to a sensational start when Turkey took just 11 seconds to breach South Korea's backline.
Veteran defender Hong Myung-Bo - playing his final international - was caught in possession by Ilhan Umsiz, who squared the ball for Hakan Sukur to finally end his World Cup goal drought.
Sukur - revered in his own country and Turkey's best known footballer - had failed to score in his team's previous six games, wasting a succession of good chances.
South Korea soon delighted their fervent fans by equalising in spectacular style.
Lee Eul-Yong, who missed a penalty against the USA, curled a left-footed free-kick past Rustu Recber.
Lee Chung-Soo then forced a good save from Rustu before Turkey took the lead for a second time.
Hakan Sukur broke from midfield and created an opening for Ilhan Mansiz, who slipped the ball past Lee Woon-Jae from eight yards.
Shortly afterwards, Ilhan then capitalised on more dreadful Korean defending to extend his team's lead.
He again linked with Hakan Sukur to expose the frailties in the opposition back line before dinking the ball over Lee Woon-Jae from eight yards.
South Korea pushed forward after the break, Song Chong-Gug and Lee Eul-Yong both going close in the opening minutes.
But the second half lacked the sparkle of the opening 45 minutes and did not really come to life until the closing stages.
Ahn Jung-Hwan appeared to have scored but his deflected shot just missed the target, while Lee Chun-Soo and Cha-Doo-Ri forced saves from Recber, who finished the match carrying a groin injury.
South Korea's persistence was finally rewarded when Song Chong-Gug scored a deflected goal in injury-time.
